Nature is weird :\

Yesterday, i was sitting and staring out of the window, (no, i was NOT in a poetic mood, i was just plain lost for things to do :|) and i saw a very young ashoka tree in the garden was broken and bent over almost double. I did a double take and screeched for my mother.(not that im very f0nd of plants or anything, but my mom is :D )
MY mom looks and nods and says, 'Yes, a dry leaf fell on it yesterday'.
My jaw dropped and i gave my mom a 'Are-you-drunk-you-woman?' kind of look.
She snorted and started laughing hysterically and clutched onto the sofa for support as she managed to splutter between her guffaws, 'A dry coconut leaf fell on it'.
As turned to look out of the window, my face deadpan, i was thinking, 'Man, Nature is weird'. :/

Ho hum...

I have this stupid EVS project to make and submit :|
I have only a week left before i go out of town and im coming back a day before college re-opens so i HAVE to finish it this week :/
I got out the information last week itself (that's pretty early considering ive done all my projects the day before the submission date) but after that, i did nothing. So since i was bored of saying im bored, i sat down and started writing. 'Heart Diseases' is the topic i chose :\. Ok, so i feel like im back in school doing Biology: Circulatory System :|
Susan Mam was our Bio teacher. A Malayali catholic, with the typical accent. And exceptionally mean.
Bitch :D
I hardly paid attention when she was in class owing to the fact that she taught like she was bullshitting us. But when i DID pay attention, i dint understand anything anyway :/
But i always scored well in Bio :D I then realized that that's why she hated me :|
Im back to doing myocardial infarction and all the other flavours of poop and i got so bored of it, that i realized i prefer saying im bored to doing that crap :D
So....
Im bored :/
*happy sigh* :)

Mumbai broadband

Mumbai broadband isnt very good is it?
It's sort of weird and unpredictable.....

Ok, let's face it. Mumbai broadband sucks big time :/
It'll start off obediently, opening up my mail and orkut account impressively fast. Im not stupid (no, really :|), and i always know that this speed isn't going to last very long.
Sure enough, in 5 minutes, it says 'Local Area Connection not connected'.
I curse under my breath and repair the damn connection.
It comes back to life and leaps around doing my bidding.
For another 5 minutes.
After which it bids me goodbye again.
I curse again and repair the cursed thing not once but three times and give the modem a scary glare as if saying, 'One more time, and you're fired'. (as if :/)
Ill be chatting away on messenger and my friend will be typing away the most interesting part of the conversation and the damn thing goes still.
I growl and switch off and on the modem and wait with my arms crossed while it re-connects. Then follows a minute or two of apologizing to the friends who had been wondering if ive fallen asleep or something (because the damn messenger will continue to show me online!!).
Ill be typing away furiously for a whole minute and when i look up at the screen nothing would have got typed at all. Why?
Because 'Local Area Connection not connected' you see.
I curse aloud, switch off and on the modem several times as though exercising my fingers talking to the modem saying, 'This is how ill ill-treat you if you disobey me you slab of dog poop'. So saying ill sit back, nostrils flaring and temper high. The lights start blinking feebly in the modem and it takes about 2 decades for it to re-connect. So i switch off and on the main JUST after it says,'Local Area connected'. :/
After which i take to a game or two of Solitaire and then go to bed :|

P.S. As i am typing this i see the damn network has got cut. Thankfully, we can type even when the internet commits suicide :D )

Galen Flicka

When i was starting this blog, i dint know what to submit as my URL. I thought and thought and though and then realized im getting a headache because im not used to thinking :|
I know im crazy.
So i wanted my URL to have something to do with 'crazy' if not being crazy.
I thought and thought and thought some more and my headache got worse.
Then finally i got it!
www.google.com!!!!!! :D

I went to google, and typed in 'Online translation'.
I selected one of the topics and put in 'crazy girl' (very simple and dumb i know :/) to be translated.
First in the list was English to French.
Crazy girl = fille idiote.
Idiot???? Sorry but i meant crazy not idiotic.French can be so insulting...i mean even people from Bhatinda know and use the word idiot(i bet!) and ill be a laughing stock everywhere (including Bhatinda) if ever anyone read my URL and saw i called myself an idiotic girl. They'll think i have very low self-esteem.
No English to French

Next i scanned the list and thought English to Portuguese seemed crazy and wild. So i tried.
Crazy girl = menina louca.
Hmmmm... That wasn't what you can call insulting. I mean, like it would have even made sense to me unless i knew what it stood for. I was all in for it. I showed my best friend Poorva, who was online, and she cheered because she thought it sounded crazy enough (although initially, when i showed it to her, she thought im calling her a few well chosen names. So well chosen, that she dint know what they meant :|) So i very enthusiastically typed it in as my URL. But the cursed thing said it wasnt 'available'. This time, i did spout a few well chosen names. I told Poorva the bad news and she spouted a few more well chosen names. (though exactly whom we called names,i do not know).
Ok,no English to Portuguese.

I scanned the list yet again. I then thought of English to Russian. I typed in 'crazy girl' and clicked 'translate'.
Crazy girl = сумасшедшая девочка.
It took me a second to realize my mouth was open. Poorva went into a fit of hysterical giggles when i showed her this one and i was losing patience. ( not that i have much)
Ok, no English to Russian.

Back to the list. I paused over English to Japanese. A friend of a my sisters' is a great Japanese fan and even listens to Japanese songs ( :/ ) So i tried it out. Typed in the two chosen words and clicked 'translate'.
Crazy girl = 狂気の女の子
I must have looked real ugly when i read it because i could not make head or tail of it. (i dint even know which was the head and which was the tail!!!) Poorva thought the shapes were very pretty and i called her a few more names.
Ok, no English to Japanese.

Then i saw Spanish. Ahhh, i love the dance those people do. So i selected Spanish, typed in the two words and clicked for it to be translated.
Crazy girl = muchacha loca.
I almost heard Poorva fall off her chair, heaving with laughter. I most certainly did not want a URL that sounded like a type of fish.(or so it sounded to me) I almost threw something.
English to Spanish, NO!!!!

I thought of trying one last time and then going for something stupid like 'Sweet Sharanya' or 'Super blogger Sharanya' (i would have become a nun before taking to such URLs :|) So i thought of trying what sounded sanest from what was left,Swedish (the remaining ones being Chinese and Korean, and i did NOT want more 'pretty shapes'). So i typed in 'crazy girl', clicked on translate' and held my breath.
Crazy girl = galen flicka.
It most certainly did not sound 'fishy'. It dint sound very insulting either. It certainly dint make my best friend laugh. It was in english text and not in pretty shapes and yippeee it was available.
And so i got my URL and we lived happily ever after :D

*zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...*

Life without decent books...

I just finished reading 'One night at a call centre' by Chetan Bhagat. It is a decent book i guess. I mean, i really liked it, and it comes under my category of 'Decent Books'. I mean, i like these kind of books. Basically i read anything that is written in reasonably good english. My meaning of good english here is, no words that stretch across a whole line, and no language that makes your head spin, cursing who ever founded english. It is because i am reasonably good(read: very good, actually :P) in english, I can confidently say that it is not because i dont understand that kind of language. And even if i dont understand, there's always a dictionary :D
I mean, what the heck is an author going to achieve when he uses foot long words? Yes, he will definitely carry a superior air about himself for having managed to spell them right in the book :|
But we're not talking about ego and pride of those potty authors anyway.
The point here, is that shouldn't the authors keep in mind the interest and attention of the readers, rather than the name they will get for having used 'Very good english' in their books? Because good english according to me is not cramping in all the words in the Oxford Dictionary in one book. It is about being grammatically correct( i mean, duh, sorry i had to mention it :/), about using reasonably good vocabulary, and using new words that will come in handy in the everyday english we talk.
I mean, how many people would choose to say,'She is extremely loquacious'???
I would just prefer saying,'She is extremely talkative' :/ (yea loquacious means you talk a lot. But i dint know till i checked the dictionary anyway :D)
OR
I wouldn't accuse someone of being ' lackadaisical'. (<-- !!!!!!!!!!)
Id just call them unemotional :|

It is very wisely said that the secret to impressive writing is to use simple language. I have been a voracious reader right from when i was a kid. I have extended my vocabulary during these years by reading, referring to the dictionary or asking someone what a new word meant. Nobody is born knowing the Oxford Dictionary verbatim. You learn as the days go by even when you're 80 (man how lame is that? to learn even when you're 80 :/ ) I re-read every single book ive enjoyed reading. Many a times, i come across a new word in the same book when im reading it for the 3 rd or 4th time. (although that may just mean i was too careless to notice the first time :| )
This is basically something that just struck me when i was wondering which book i should read next :D
I assure you this post was not meant to bore you and if it did, then you're the blockhead not me :|

le sigh...

I am bored. If you ask most of my friends, they'll tell you that im famous for being bored at any given time of the day. Wake me up at 2 in the night and ill say im bored. Ill be doing something i love doing, interrupt me and ask me,and ill still say im bored. So basically, very rarely will i say with a smile 'No, im not really bored'.
Right now is most certainly not one of those rare moments.
I am terribly bored.
And you can read that again.
One more time.
And again.
Once again.
Just one more time?

Ok,by now you must have realized that im not very entertaining when im bored. Actually, who is? People dont provide entertainment when they're bored. People expect entertainment when they're bored.
Now, dont tell me you're bored and you're expecting entertainment from me. What do you want me to do? Tribal dance???
Sorry i cant :|
I just realized im boring you'll out of your minds :/
