Nice :)

Yesterday, I went shopping. I was supposed to take a bus and meet my sister in Bandra(Kala Nagar), before we proceeded to Hill Road.
At the bus stop, this lady, asked me where I'm heading to and which bus I wanted. She said she was waiting for the same bus and sighed wearily saying it normally never took this long. I waited at the bus-stop for 15 minutes and by then, my sister called THRICE. She was really impatient and asked me to take a rick and get there quickly. I agreed and looked around for a rick. Then I realized it would seem rude to just walk off. I don't know WHAT made me do it, but I asked the lady if she would like a lift. She was shorter than me by several inches, thin and frail, early 40s or late 30s i should say, and looked typically like the household helpers in Mumbai do. She accepted but very apologetically said it may take a few extra bucks for me. We got into the rick and she explained to me that she had to get ready again and come back to her work place. I asked her where she worked. She fumbled with a word starting with 'Gr'. Something, again, made me ask, 'Gregorios?'. 'Haaaan', she beamed at me. St.Gregorios High School, where i studied till my 10th, has several ladies like this one to help out in the school. I very proudly told her I used to be part of that school till two years back.'Haa-aaan??', she beamed at me again. I grinned and nodded at her and told her my name and said I was well known in school. It turned out she used to be a household helper in the house of a student of that school, whom I know very well. Lata, as she introduced herself, said that she knows that girl's family really well, and that she joined the school recently. We were talking so easily, and freely and it felt really warm. :)
She told me that all 3 of her children were having exams and that she had to change and go back to school for some function. I dropped her off outside her place and she looked so grateful. She patted me gently and said, "Chalo thank you haan? Kabhi milegi, toh yaad kar lena. Dhyaan se jaana"(Thank you. Remember who I am if ever we meet. Go carefully). I nodded and smiled widely.

It felt SO nice to help someone you don't know, and then realize you DO know them, in a small, indirect way. :)
